Q: How do I apply for the Global Medical Insurance (GMI) plan? How do I know this is the policy I need for my particular set of circumstances?
A: Click here to instantly apply and get a quote on-line through the IMG SelectaPlan secure web server or click to download the GMI brochure and application . You will answer a few short questions and the SelectaPlan will determine which plan is suited for you. You may also go to our GMI webpage for detailed plan information.
Q: I already have health coverage in my country of citizenship. Why should I be interested in purchasing Global Medical Insurance coverage?
A: There are a mulititude of possible reasons. Just keep in mind that if you are a US citizen, your current HMO/PPO provider program may not cover you once you leave the country. Besure to check your current policy for details regarding international medical coverages AND how they will handle medical emergency evacuations! They probably can't do either of these. Medicare will not cover a US citizen outside the US !
Q: How is Global Basic Insurance different from Global Medical Insurance?
Q: Is a U.S. citizen able to purchase the Global Medical Insurance coverage?
A: Yes. It is available to individuals and families of all nationalities. U.S. citizens must reside abroad or plan to leave the U.S. on their effective date and plan to reside abroad for at least 6 months of the year (not necessarily all at one time).
Q: Can a non-U.S. citizen purchase the Global Medical Insurance coverage?
A: Yes. It is available to all individuals and families of all nationalities. Non-U.S. citizens may reside anywhere, including their country of citizenship, although certain eligiblity restrictions may apply to non-U.S. citizens residing in the United States. This plan provides an alternative to opt-out of other health care programs and own a US-style major medical policy. Contact us if you have any questions about eligibility.
Q: How young or old can you be to purchase the GMI plan?
A: Persons between the ages of 14 days and 74 years old may apply for coverage. You are not eligible for the GMI plan if over 74 years of age. Certain other restrictions may also apply. Contact us for further details.

Q: Are the deductibles and co-insurance different depending on where you are residing in the world?
A: Yes. For eligible expenses incurred in the US and Canada: once the deductible is met, GMI pays 80% of the next US$5,000 in eligible expenses then 100% of eligible expenses up to the policy maximum of US$5,000,000. But, by utilizing our PPO network while in the US, you can reduce your deductible by 50% and any coinsurance applicable to that charge is waived when eligible treatment is received from a network provider.
For eligible expenses incurred outside of the US and Canada: once the deductible is met, the GMI plan will pay 100% of eligible expenses up to the policy maximum of US$5,000,000. NO Coinsurance is paid outside the US and Canada! Each person will only need to satisy their deductible once per policy period (12 months), with a maximum of three deductibles per family.
Q: If I am a US expatriate who is currently residing in England but will be moving to Indonesia, can I maintain my GMI plan and coverage?
A: Yes. You may reside anywhere in the world (with US citizens having certain restrictions inside the US and it's territories). Just notify us of your address change ASAP.
Q: What is the yearly renewal process like?
A: Very easy! With an Internet connection, you may visit our online renewal center for renewal of your important coverage every year. IMG will send you both an email and regular mail notification of the need to renew -- you may either perform the online renewal or paper renewal, which ever is most convenient for you.
As a US citizen, you will be asked specifically at renewal time if you will continue to intend on residing outside the US for the minimum six months specified in the policy. If you can answer "YES", then you will be typically renewed; otherwise, if answered "NO", you will not be renewed due to the eligiblity requirement set forth yearly by the plan.
Q: If I am a US citizen and plan to reside within one of the US Territories (ie; US Virgin Islands, Guam, Puerto Rico, etc.), is there a long-term plan for me?
A: Yes. Please contact us directly via email or phone to learn more about your options.
