Why is there special coverage needed for the US Territories ?
Most international insurance companies have strict qualifying requirements that must be met before one is eligible for any medical insurance plan. A common restriction for most US citizens is that they "must reside outside their country of citizenship". Being that the US Territories are typically considered the same as the USA, 99% of the international insurance companies will not qualify a US citizen living in the USVI, Puerto Rico, American Samoa or Guam for this reason.
UPDATE: The USVI is currently not able to be covered under the SevenCorners, Inc. plans.
The Solution to this are 2 products from Seven Corners, Inc. called Reside !
Reside Prime Worldwide and Reside Worldwide ARE able to offer the coverage required, because the SRI Underwriters view the US Territories as "international" and not a part of the 50 US States. For these reasons, the Seven Corner's products of Reside Prime and Reside Worldwide are the only choice for you and your family if you are a US citizen looking to live abroad in any US Territory.
